The Church today is in a great dream, and only a few Christians are awake in it—and those who are live in constant awe at what Christ has done.

William Law
We never are angry at others except when their opinions of us are contrary to that which we have of ourselves.

Have You Ever Ignored the Light?

On a foggy night during World War II, the captain of a battleship noticed a light rapidly approaching his ship. He ordered his signalman to flash a signal to the unidentified vessel, "Change your course 10 degrees starboard."

Back came a signal, "Change your course 10 degrees port."

The captain snapped off another message, "Change your course 10 degrees starboard—I am the Captain."

Back came an answer, "Change your course 10 degrees port—I am Seaman First Class Johnson."

By this time the light was growing ominously larger, so the captain grabbed the signal light and fired off the warning, "Change your course, I am a battleship!"

Immediately a message came back, "Change your course, I am a lighthouse!"

Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life" (John 8:12).

Listen: Jesus is the Lighthouse, and when He sees that we're in danger of crashing upon spiritual rocks, He shines the light of the Holy Spirit upon them to guide us safely away. "For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God" (Romans 8:14)

But sometimes when we ourselves don't see the danger, or think we can handle it, we ignore His warning and keep plowing ahead—straight into the rocks! Sound familiar?

Child of God, on this sea of life, don't ignore the light from the Lighthouse—even if you think you're a battleship!

How to Be Filled with Spiritual Power"I am writing from England to say your John G. Lake book (How to Be Filled with Spiritual Power) is as good as any writing. I have read all his books and have tried to follow his example. It is a hard country to get people's faith level to believe in divine healing, as they hope to be healed as you pray, but do not believe they will. There is too much rubbish that people are told in churches here, and we need more books like that. Hope to get more of them from Kitty. Keep writing and blessing. God bless. Charlie" (Charles Perkiss)

Reading the Bible Daily
"I am advocating that I should read my Bible daily not because I believe it is a good thing for me to read the Word every day, not because I think it is going to do some general good, not because it is a good thing to be familiar with the Word of God—no—I must learn to read the Word of God in order to look for the doctrines that are in it. I must search for doctrines which I can apply to myself, I must be looking for particular teachings. My reading of the Bible must not be general, but very specific.

. . . If I do not read my Bible in such a way as to come to a deeper knowledge of the greatness and holiness of God, there is something wrong in my reading, and the same is true if my reading of the Bible does not humble me, or bend me to my knees."  (Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Growing In the Spirit: The Assurance of Our Salvation)

In the Works
Beverlee finished the Teresa of Avila book this week and sent it off to the publisher, and I finished the William Law book a couple of day's after her, naturally, and sent it on it's merry way. Both will be published in early Spring. I also finished the Study Guide for Tozer: Mystery of the Holy Spirit.

Beverlee will be working with an author on a new book for several weeks, and I'll be revising R. A. Torrey's great old book, The Holy Spirit: Who He Is and What He Does.  I've read a magazine copy of this book several times—we got it a bunch of years ago from The Herald of His Coming, and every time I've learned something new about the Holy Spirit. It's a great book and I'm looking forward to working with it.

We cherish your prayers as always.
