Have You Reached Your
Tipping Point Yet?
A lot has been said about Global Warming's tipping point.
That's the point at which climate change tips over into an
accelerated warming condition that cannot be stopped or
reversed, no matter what is done.
True Christianity also has a
tipping point. That's the point at which the
Christ-life in a born-again believer becomes stronger than
the self-life, and begins to control the person and press
him or her increasingly, irresistibly, and irreversibly into
sanctification—separation from the world's ways, attitudes,
and values. ●
Cheap
Haircuts
A small-town barber was doing well
until a large cut-rate barbershop moved in across the
street. They blitzed the area with signs reading,
"EVERYTHING FOR $6. $6 Haircuts! $6 Perms! Everything for
$6!"
The barber lost all his customers.
In despair he hired an advertising expert. "I'm finished,"
he declared. "I can't compete with them!"
The expert called a sign company and
told them to put a huge sign on top of the barber's shop.
"What do you want on the sign?" they asked.
"In your biggest, boldest, lettering
put "WE FIX $6 HAIRCUTS!"
Be careful,
child of God, that you don't get your spiritual
haircuts at those highly advertised places with the
cheapest, cut-rate, $6 gospel since Calvary.
They may trim some things off on the
outside and make you look a bit better to people in this
world, but only Jesus Christ can cut away the hairy mess on
the inside and make you fit to stand in the presence of God
in the next world.
And fix your $6 haircut while He's
doing it!
In the Works
Beverlee and I are just finishing up two new
Pure
Gold Classics for Bridge-Logos Publishers. She's been
whizzing through The Interior Castle by Teresa of
Avila, and I've been struggling through A Serious
Call to a Devout and Holy Life by William Law.
God willing, and if the creek don't rise, we'll finish
them on schedule—1 November. Both should be published in the
Spring.
We would appreciate your praying
for us.

Thank God every morning when you get up that you have
something to do that must be done, whether you like it or
not. Being forced to work, and forced to do your best, will
breed in you temperance, self-control, diligence, strength
of will, content, and a hundred other virtues that the idle
never know.
