First century Rome and its
provinces had the same moral climate we are experiencing today.
Filled with drunkenness, gluttony, idleness, political intrigue,
debauchery, the breakdown of the family, abortion, adultery,
avarice, homosexuality, and racial prejudice, the culture was
declining at a rapid rate. As a result, the two characters in
this story—Mary Magdalene and Simon the
Zealot—were faced with a decision: should they remain a part of
their culture or should they follow Jesus? It's a decision that
millions have had to make since Jesus walked the earth.
The narrative of this novel unfolds as Mary
and Simon go through the struggles associated with finding faith
and making a commitment to Christ. These two strong-willed
individuals travel separate spiritual journeys that ultimate
lead them to understand Christ's mission on earth. As time goes
on, their growing love for each other and the Master unite them
in a common purpose: to tell the story of Jesus to all who would
listen. It
is an exciting and thrilling love story that has been replayed
thousands of times in the lives of others throughout the history
of the Church.
